R38: The Set – Up

The Set – Up by Liz Allen

I found The Set – Up to be a little too convoluted for me.  I think the plot was rather clever and it had layers of manipulation that should have kept my interest.  But the story didn’t grab me.  It was interesting enough to finish and I never did guess all of the traitors which is something I enjoy in a suspense story.

Part of the problem was that despite a lot of detail the back drop of the Irish criminal and police worlds both lacked the substance to contain and support the intricate plot.

Definitely a sweep it.  Just not enough interest in the plot device in order to get past the writing style or to make me want to read other books by this author.
